Just a quick note, all the formal details will come later, but we’re excited to announce that Alvin Lau from Chicago will be our March feature at Poetry SlamMN!
Mumble Mumble is excited to have Katherine Glover bringing her fringe show Burning Brothels: Sex and Death in Nevada to our stage in October.
ONE NIGHT ONLY:Since SlamMN! has some big money on the line at our slams this season we are tweaking the draw a little bit. Most slams will still only be open to 12 competitors BUT we will do 2 random draws to figure who gets in.
At 7:30 we will open sign-up like usual. If more than 6 people sign-up right at 7:30 we will do a drawing of those people to pick 6 that get to compete for sure. If you don’t get in during that selection your name will go in the hat with all the other names that throw in between 7:35-8:00. The rest of the names will be drawn at 8:00. They will all then be mixed together and randomly selected to see what order performers will go in.
Yay!

Thanks to all the came out for the Story SlamMN! season opener last night! Many great life lessons were learned at our story tellers told us what not to do when Par-tay-ing.
1st place went to Brandi Brown and her quintessential college story involving rugby players, special brownies, and ‘falling asleep’ in the wrong dorm room…wearing somebody else’s pajamas.
2nd place went to Vicki Joan Keck who actually brought her old journal from the early 70’s up onto stage with her where she divulged what happened between August when she was searching to God about how to stay pure…until March when she hilariously shared with us what having an apartment full of foreign exchange students move in can do to a sweet Midwestern gals world view—complete with a song list attached to each man.
3rd place went to Allison Broeren sharing a story about how politics influenced her partying in college when she held a birthday party election night toga party…and how speech kids can out drink hockey players any night of the week.
Ward Rubrecht was the feature and told some tales of growing up in small town Wisconsin and almost killing his dad on multiple occasions.
Big props to William Everidge who told a story for the first time ever last night!
We hope to see you in October at our show. The Mask: Stories of what we hide is the theme.
Now Qualified for the Grand Slam:
Brandi Brown
Vicki Joan Keck
Allison Broeren
